Water Tours - Tour Operators & Rentals

Swallows Cave
This huge beautiful cave can be visited by boat only on the end of Kapa Island.

Mariners Cave
This famous underwater cave is well worth the effort needed to swim in. Watch out for hitting the roof when swimming in and out. Fantastic atmosphere inside with fog forming and vanishing on every swell. Hard to find as unmarked and several false caves close by.

One of the great assets Vavau can offer is the ability to visit so many different islands. With 35 of 70 the islands sheltered by the reefs and accessible by small boats. It is still possible to be dropped off on your own island to swim snorkel and explore the day away. There are a number of tour operators offering different types of tours.

The Islands of Vava'u with their safe anchorages and secluded coves offer one of the world's finest year-round sailing holidays in the Pacific. Melinda Sea Adventures has been offering multiple day live-aboard and day sailing trips since 1999. Accommodation onboard one of our beautiful skippered sailing yachts gives you a unique opportunity to fully explore this stunning tropical island paradise in luxury, or you can charter one of our smaller sailboats that are available as bareboats to explore on your own. There are 40 stunning islands in the Vava'u group. Anchor near a different island each night, snorkel colorful coral reefs, hike through lush tropical forests, explore a stretch of beach, poking into tidepools full of marine life, visit uninhabited islands where the birds nest or visit a Tongan village. Dine at one of our unique outer island restaurants or stay onboard dining under the stars far from civilization.

We have 2 vessels available to charter in Vava’u.

SV Cirrus is a Palmer Johnson 40’ ocean racing yacht. Cirrus sailed in 6 Pacific Cups, won a Transpac Race, and won her class in the annual Vava’u Cup. She has completed 14 Pacific Ocean crossings.

Mid 2012 the “HM Salote” will be commissioned under full survey. She is a cedar stripped planked 46 ft long x 22 ft wide traditionally built double hulled Polynesian sailing canoe (known in Tonga as a Kalia). See the launch video below...

Both vessels will be available for exclusive or mixed charters in the Vava’u group.

Our main tour is to Eueiki Island for snorkelling, BBQ and beach volley ball. Talk to us about a special package sailing/accommodation from the Neiafu harbour out to Eueiki...

Other destinations include, but not exclusively the following Islands.... talk to us about organising a tour to suit you. Euakafa Island for hiking to the Princess's tomb; Taunga Island for interesting beaches; Kapa Island for drinks and lunch at the Reef Resort; Blue Lagoon, Swallow's Cave and Coral Gardens for unique snorkelling; plus many other islands
